|Michelin chef Ferran Adrià puts precious wine lot of 8,800 bottles on sale in Hong Kong
Catalonian chef Ferran Adrià is putting up his personal wine collection from the cellars of el Bulli for sale in Hong Kong.
The famous three Michelin star El Bulli in the town of Rosas a few hours from Barcelona, stopped taking bookings mid-year last year. The chef made a name for himself through molecular gastronomy.
Auctioneer Sotheby’s said today, the Hong Kong auction will be in April next year. Another sale will be held in New York, later that month.
The auction will offer 8,807 bottles estimated to fetch bids of between HK$8.6 million and HK$12.5 million.
A statement by the auctioneer cited the chef as saying the cellar stocks a collection of wines, “that was created and developed by Juli Soler and the elBulli sommelier team of Agustí Peris, Eloi Sànchez, Isabelle Brunet, Lucas Payà, David Seijas and Ferran Centelles.’’
The collection includes 2,000-plus bottles of Spanish wine (worth between HK$1.6m and HK$2.3m), more than 1,400 bottles of red burgundy (HK$2.7m-HK$3.8m) , 1,000 bottles of white burgundy (HK$1.3m-HK$1.8m), as well as rare Oloroso and Solera Sherry dating back to 1830, the auctioneer said today.
