Hang Seng climbs nearly 200 points

Stocks in Hong Kong continued to advance in morning trade today. At midday, the benchmark Hang Seng Index rose 0.74 percent, or 198.37 points, at 26.862.65.

Shares of developers continued to rally on favorable housing policies, with New World Development (0017) surging 4.28 percent to HK$11.22, becoming the biggest blue-chip gainer. Henderson Land Development (0012) went up 3.14 percent to HK$39.45, and Sun Hung Kai Properties (0016) also grew 2.52 percent to HK$118.10.

Banks stocks also gained, with Hang Seng Bank (0011) rising 2.03 percent to HK$165.70, BOC Hong Kong (2388) and HSBC Holdings (0005) climbed by 1.69 percent and 1.33 percent, respectively.

Hang Lung Properties (0101), however, lost the most among blue chips, sliding 1.46 percent to HK$17.58. Tencent (0700) stayed flat at HK$331.40.
