23-year-old man held over kilo of meth

A 23-year-old man has been arrested today after 1 kilogram of suspected methamphetamine, worth about HK$410,000 in market value, were seized in Kwun Tong, Customs said.

During an anti-narcotics operation in Kwun Tong this morning, officers intercepted the young man and found the batch of suspected methamphetamine inside a rucksack carried by him.

The maximum penalty upon conviction of trafficking in a dangerous drug is a fine of HK$5 million and life imprisonment.
