The Lingnan University Student Union president said students assist other universities if anyone forcefully removes banners that had been recently put up, advocating Hong Kong's independence.

Ryan Lee (pictured), said the union was ready to protect the freedom of speech.

He also said the union plans to take some "action" tomorrow at the launch of a year-long celebration of the institute's 50th anniversary.

Lee did not elaborate on what kind of action will be taken, but said the union is still discussing. He said the union wants to show its determination in fighting for freedom of speech.-Phott: RTHK
