Carrie Lam meets UN General Assembly President

Chief Executive Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor, (pictured, right), met Peter Thomson, (pictured, left), the President of the United Nations General Assembly at her office this morning.

The Hong Kong leader told Thomson, a strong advocate and supporter of the United Nations Ocean Conference, that the city is committed to the conservation of biodiversity and sustainable development.

Lam pointed out that over the years, Hong Kong has taken proactive actions to protect the marine environment and conserve important ecological habitats and species, as well as promote the sustainable use of fisheries resources in the city's waters.

Hong Kong would continue its efforts in enhancing protection for marine habitats, she said.
