Retailer fined for offering bogus smartphone warranty

A mobile phone retailer who gave false information on warranty and service to a buyer was fined HK$3,000 and ordered to pay HK$999 in compensation today at Kowloon City Magistrates' Courts.

A staffer at the retail shop had claimed that the warranty and maintenance service for the smartphone were provided by the Hong Kong authorized dealer, customs said. The warranty and service did not exist.
