The rainstorm warning signal has been downgraded to amber, the Hong Kong Observatory said.

This means that heavy rain has fallen or is expected to fall generally over Hong Kong, exceeding 30 millimeters in an hour, and is likely to continue.

An active southerly airstream is bringing thundery showers to the coast of Guangdong and the northern part of the South China Sea, the Observatory said.

At 4 p.m., tropical storm Talas was centred about 190 km northwest of Vientiane. It is forecast to move west or west-northwest at about 30 km per hour across the inland areas of Indo-China and dissipate gradually.
