Taikoo Place, which hosts a number of multinational corporations, will be redeveloped through a HK$15 billion investment, Swire Properties announced today.
Swire is undertaking the redevelopment jointly with international architects and design firms including Hugh Dutton Associés, Gustafson Porter and Wong & Ouyang (HK).
Swire Properties will add two triple Grade-A office towers, each offering 1 million square feet of gross floor space. The first, 'One Taikoo Place,' is due for completion in 2018, followed by the second building, ‘Two Taikoo Place,' in 2021. All floors of 'One Taikoo Place' are designed with 3-meter wide curtain wall window panels, offering panoramic views of Victoria Harbour, Swire Properties said.
The two new towers and the existing 8 office towers in Taikoo Place, will be linked by elevated air-conditioned walkways and surrounded by landscaped gardens with cascading water features and additional alfresco dining areas. Paris-based design company Hugh Dutton Associés has been commissioned to design the elevated walkway.
Don Taylor, director of Office at Swire Properties said the project will not only elevate Taikoo Place’s status as a world-class commercial hub, but will also provide an attractive alternative to Central.
Swire Properties will also introduce 'Taikoo Square' and 'Taikoo Garden,' (pictured), designed by award-winning London-based landscape architectural practice Gustafson Porter. The two gardens will provide 69,000 sq ft of open space - equivalent in size to Statue Square in Central, Swire Properties announced.
'Via Fiori,' the popular landscaped area facing One Island East, will be renamed 'Taikoo Park' and will continue to host outdoor events.
