Erick Tsang to head immigration; Chan Kwok-ki removed

Erick Tsang Kwok-wai, (pictured), has been named the Director of Immigration by the State Council with immediate effect.

Incumbent director Chan Kwok-ki has been removed from the post.

Tsang, previously the Deputy Director of Immigration, took up the new appointment today.

Chan goes on pre-retirement leave after serving for 33 years.

Commenting on the appointment of Erick Tsang, the Chief Executive Leung Chung-yin, said, “Mr Tsang has accumulated nearly 29 years of experience and possesses extensive knowledge, making great strides in enhancing the efficiency and professionalism of the Immigration Department. I am confident that he will rise up to the challenges ahead."
