Chief Executive Carrie Lam has described a police officer who was shot in in the calf by an arrow during a clearance operation near the Polytechnic University on Sunday as "very courageous,'' RTHK reports.
Writing on her Facebook page, Lam said she has visited the media liaison officer in hospital and was pleased to find that he’s recovering well.
Lam added that it’s "very touching" to learn that the officer is hoping to return to work as soon as possible, calling him "brave and courageous".
Lam, who had not been seen in public since vicious clashes broke out at Polytechnic University on Sunday morning, also urged protesters to follow police instructions and surrender themselves as soon as possible.
Over the past few months, Lam has visited several police officers hurt in the anti-extradition clashes, but she has never paid a visit to injured protesters, journalists or other members of the public.
