The Hong Kong Federation of Insurers said invoking the Emergency Regulations Ordinance does not affect the validity of insurance policy.

Insurance policy is a commercial contract, both the insured and insurers are bound by the terms and conditions therein, according to the HKFI.

It also said insurance coverage, however, varies from policy to policy and exclusions may apply under specified circumstances, and if in any doubts, policyholders are advised to seek clarifications directly from their insurance intermediaries or insurance companies.
