89 arrested since Friday over clashes

Police said in the press briefing today 89 people – 77 males and 12 females – aged between 13 and 67 years were arrested in clashes between Friday and yesterday.

They are suspected of committing crimes including theft, unlawful assembly, possession of offensive weapons, possession of instruments fit for an unlawful purpose, arson and criminal damage, said Kong Wing-cheung, Senior Superintendent (Media Liaison and Communication).

A total of 1,453 people – 1,173 males and 280 females – aged between 12 and 72 years have been arrested since June.

Kong also said 32 rounds of tear gas, 11 rubber bullets and 12 sponge bullets were fired yesterday.
