Policing facing public heat

Local | 13 Aug 2019 5:05 pm

The police said today recent tensions between them and the public have affected their normal duties.

Chief Superintendent of Police Public Relations Branch, Tse Chun-chung, said the police have been obstructed from entering residential buildings, insulted and surrounded by people, while water bombs had been thrown at them when handling several incidents unrelated to protests recently.

Tse said patrols will not be carried out in shopping malls or residential buildings, but if people made reports, or an offense is committed, the police are lawfully entitled to enter.
