Punish culprits for insulting flag, demo demands

Local | 8 Aug 2019 1:40 pm

About 30 protesters who gathered at the Star Ferry Pier in Tsim Sha Tsui demanded today that those who insulted the national flag and emblem be brought to justice.

They sang the national anthem, waved the national and Hong Kong flag and unfurled a banner, which says, "safeguard national dignity, respect national flag and emblem."

The organizer said he feels very saddened about anti-extradition law amendment protesters throwing the national flag into the sea and that the act challenged the authority of the central government, touching the bottom line of “one country, two systems” and insulting Chinese people.
