FTSE 100 higher ahead of Tory leadership vote

Major stock markets gained on optimism over possible new U.S.-China talks despite heightened Middle East tensions.

In early trading, London’s FTSE 100 was up by 0.6 percent to 7,556.70 ahead of the Conservative Party party leadership vote and Frankfurt’s DAX climbed by 0.85 percent to 12,392.70. France’s CAC-40 jumped 0.3 percent to 5584.15.
