The MTRC said today it had only three workers at the Yuen Long Station when violence broke out last night.

The three employees and a contractor staff could not
handle the situation and had to rely on the assistance of police, the MTRC said in a statement.

The MTR operations control centre called the police at 10:47pm after receiving a report from station staff about the situation. As the conflicts escalated into
violence, the corporation repeatedly called the police for assistance. According to records, police arrived at the station at around 10:53pm, while fully equipped police arrived at the station at around 11:15pm, a statement said..
"MTR staff had handled the situation the best we could,'' the MTRC said.

The MTRC said it is concerned about the response time in this serious incident and we will communicate with the police on how similar situation can be better handled in future, the statement said.
