Journalists condemn targeting of TV cameraman

The Hong Kong Journalists Association has condemned protesters who pushed, insulted and shined a torch on a TVB news cameraman who was covering the protests outside the Justice Place in Central today, saying their actions seriously interfered with the freedom of press.

"We urge the public to express their views rationally, and respect journalists' right to report," the association said.
It said harassing frontline workers would only end up in harming the public's right to know.
"We urge the public to reflect any discontent over media coverage to the relevant organization, instead of venting anger on frontline reporters and blocking them from doing their job," it said, RTHK reports.
