Pro-Beijing group decries Germany, Europeans

The pro-Beijing group, New Territories Association of Societies, has protested outside the Consulate General of Germany in Hong Kong and the European Union Office to Hong Kong and Macao today for interfering in the rule of law and internal affairs.

The group criticized the German government for granting refugee status to independence advocates Ray Wong Toi-yeung and Alan Li Tung-sing, who had been charged over the 2016 Lunar New Year riot in Mong Kok and fled Hong Kong in 2017 while on bail.

The EU was criticized for handing a formal diplomatic protest note to the Chief Executive Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor on Friday over the controversial extradition law changes, saying the 28-member bloc disrespects the legislative process.
