Pro-democracy lawmakers protested against the fugitives law amendment bill before the Legislative Council House Committee's weekly meeting today.
Banners demanding "withdraw the evil law" were torn down by Democratic Alliance for the Betterment and Progress of Hong Kong lawmaker Ann Chiang Lai-wan.
The protest stopped after the panel chairman Starry Lee Wai-king urged lawmakers to return to their seats.
A four-and-a-half hour long special meeting is being held to discuss whether to dismiss the bills committee now that the government has announced that the second reading of the bill will be tabled to the full Legco next month.
