Nikkei gives up 0.62pc

Japanese stocks dropped today, led by electric parts suppliers. The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average ended down by 132.23 points, or 0.62 percent. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange finished 5.63 points, or 0.36 percent, lower at 1,540.58.

Mining, marine transportation and electric appliance issues comprised those that declined the most by the close of play.
