Hang Seng declines at close, China Rare Earth surges

Stocks in Hong Kong ended lower today. The benchmark Hang Seng Index shed 0.47 percent, or 130.37 points at 27,657.24.

China Rare Earth (0769) bounced by 102.70 percent at 75 HK cents today, following speculation related to a visit by President Xi Jinping to Jiangxi province, where he toured the facilties of JL MAG Rare-Earth Company yesterday. State media said he also observed the  development of the rare earth industry in the city of Ganzhou. He was accompanied by trade negotiator and Vice Premier Liu He.
