Double-digit gains for HK blue chips in first quarter

Hong Kong blue chips rebounded strongly in the first quarter, following the sharp correction in 2018, the government economist Andrew Au, said today.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index soared and closed the quarter at 29,051, up by 12.4 percent from end-2018. On May 16, the Hang Seng Index closed at 28,275 points.
