The public transport subsidies given to commuters for January, February and March are about HK$185.7 million, HK$120.9 million and HK$181.8 million respectively, the Secretary for Transport and Housing, Frank Chan Fan, told lawmakers today. The total adds up to HK$488.4 million.
The scheme was implemented on January 1.
In January 2.35 million people benefited from the subsidy, and 1.94 million in February. And 2.36 million benefited in March. The average subsidy in the first three months were about HK$79, HK$62 and HK$77, respectively, Chan said.
He was responding to a question from lawmaker Chan Hak-kan.
