US crude higher at US$61.78

Benchmark U.S. oil gained by 74 US cents on Tuesday to settle at US$61.78 per barrel. Brent crude, the international standard, gained US$1.01 to US$71.24 a barrel.

Natural gas was up by 4 US cents to US$2.66 per 1,000 cubic feet, heating oil rose 2 cents to US$2.06 per gallon and wholesale gasoline added a penny to US$1.98 per gallon.
