Sun Hung Kai Properties (0016) will spend HK$4.8 million, about 10 percent more than last year, to launch promotions for the Tai Po Mega Mall during the Easter holiday.
Bill Soo, assistant general manager for leasing, estimates 4 million will visit the mall, up 10 percent to 15 percent year-on-year, generating a 10 percent higher revenue of HK$130 million.
Tai Po Mega Mall recorded 25 million visitors in the first quarter of 2019, up 10 percent from last year. Revenue was between HK$870 million to HK$900 million, up 10 percent from last year.
Cosmetics stores posted the biggest increase in revenue, with turnover of HK$2,000 to HK$3,000 per square feet, according to SHKP.
The Liantang/Heung Yuen Wai Boundary control point is expected to open to traffic in the second quarter of this year and Soo expects a further increase in visitors.
Meanwhile, the population in Pak Shek Kok is expected to reach 50,000.
The mall will also introduce the first Mannings Baby flagship store for families in the area. In addtion, the mall will spend HK$10 million to fix electric vehicle charging facilities and a smart parking system.
