Thaksin-linked party secures 138 seats

Thailand's Election Commission has announced the official tally for constituency lawmakers, showing that Pheu Thai Party has won 138 of the 350 seats on offer, the Nation reports from Bangkok.

The party is associated with with exiled Thai leader Thaksin Shinawatra.

Pheu Thai needs help from other parties to garner the 251 votes for the right to nominate the prime minister -- who is then subject to a vote from the 500 MPs together with the 250 senators the Bangkok Post reported.
