The mother of veteran Democratic Party member Howard Lam Tsz-kin, was in tears after the conviction today.

Speaking to reporters outside the West Kowloon Magistrates' Courts, she described the ruling as very unfair. "My son has never lied, everything he said is true. This time it is really unfair and unjust," she said.

Lam, 44, who was sentenced to five months of imprisonment, said he will appeal to the end and disagrees with the magistrate that his claim will affect the city's international perspective.

Democratic Party lawmaker Ted Hui Chi-fung, said after attending the hearing that as Lam's friend, he will always support him. "But for this case. I will not comment," he said.
