(NPC) Unkept promises from leadersChina | 15 Mar 2019 1:51 pm
On Bloomberg Television today, Fraser Howie, co-author of "Red Capitalism: The Fragile Financial Foundation of China’s Extraordinary Rise,” says President Xi Jinping "talks a good book" but doesn't follow through on promises.
His central point is that China has offered olive branches to foreign companies in the past, only to fall short on execution. "Actions speak far louder than the words."
Howie, whose known for his turn of phrase, also doesn't seem convinced by the veracity of the NPC.
"The NPC is ultimately a stage managed pantomine theater set piece, it's not there for surprises."
