Truck driver held for illegal cigarettes

A 55-year-old driver has been arrested by Hong Kong Customs yesterday after they seized 750,000 suspected illicit cigarettes worth HK$2 million and a duty potential of about HK$1.4 million from an incoming truck at Man Kam To Control Point.

In a continuing operation this month, customs said 31 illicit cigarettes cases have been detected as of today and 1.3 million illicit cigarettes worth HK$3.5 million and a duty potential of about HK$2.5 million were seized. Thirty men and two women, aged between 22 and 75, were arrested.
