Wan Chai Ferry dumplings creator Chong Kin-wo dies

Chong Kin-wo, the creator of the popular Wan Chai Ferry brand of dumplings, has died at the age of 73.

The mainland-born "madam Chong,'' turned a hawker business into a well-known local brand of dumplings.

She also gave back to society.

She, along with her daughter Joanne Wong made a donation to set up the Chong Kin Wo Scholarship at Chinese University of Hong Kong in May last year.

Chong started her dumpling business at Wan Chai Ferry Pier in the 1970s. it evolved into a multi-national business, earning her admiration as the "Dumpling Queen.'

She opened her first dumpling factory in

1985.

After opening two factories, she opened a specialty store in 1994, and two years later, opened a modern plant.
