UK's manufacturing fell for the sixth consecutive month in December, the Office for National Statistics says.
Production fell by 0.5 percent in December 2018, also driven by manufacturing, which contracted by 0.7 percent.
This is the sixth consecutive monthly fall for manufacturing, which last occurred between September 2008 and February 2009, the ONS says.
In the fourth quarter, production fell by 1.1 percent, led mainly by a fall of 0.9 percent in manufacturing with the largest falls seen in ‘transport equipment’ (2.7 percent) and ‘metals’ (3 percent), the ONS says.
