Geely auto sales hit record in January

Geely Automobile (0175) reported on Monday its sales volume rose 2 percent year-on-year to record 158,393 units in January.

When compared with December 2018, the volume last month jumped 70 percent, the car maker said in a stock exchange filing.

Meanwhile, its exports volume was 7,005 units – up more than five fold over the same period last year.

Geely aims to sell 1.51 million units in 2019.

In 2018, the Hangzhou-based company missed its sales target of 1.58 million units by around 5 percent. Sales volume for the year amounted to 1.5 million units, an increase of approximately 20 percent from 2017.

At market close, the blue-chip stock surged 5.05 percent, or 66 HK cents, to HK$13.74.
