Nikkei slumps by 1.9pc to nearly three-week lowBusiness | 8 Feb 2019 11:33 am
Japan’s Nikkei dropped to a near three-week low in the morning today as renewed U.S.-China trade fears curbed risk appetite, while dismal earnings results from Japan Inc. continued to sour sentiment, Reuters reports.
The Nikkei share average sank by 1.9 percent to 20,353.40 in mid morning trade, the lowest level since Jan. 17. For the week, the Nikkei is on track to post a 2 percent decline.
The broader Topix declined 1.8 percent to 1,541.11, with all of its 33 subsectors in negative territory.
