HK blue chip index climbs above 28,000 before easing

Hong Kong blue chips climbed past 28,000 today continuing gains from yesterday. The Hang Seng Index added 0.25 percent, or 68.55 at 28,011.02, before pulling back to 27,905.84, down by 0.13 percent.

Insurer AIA (1299),which gained yesterday, added 0.57 percent at HK$70.90.

The HSI rallied by 1.08 percent, or 299.62 points, yesterday to close at 27,942.47.

Chinese stocks opened higher today. The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index was up by 0.84 percent, or 21.70 points at 2,606.27 after opening higher.

The Shenzhen Composite Index gained by 1.76 percent, or 22.39 points at 1,297.13. The index also opened higher.
