Manufacturers' group expects growth over trade hurdle

The Chinese Manufacturers' Association of Hong Kong's permanent honorary president David Wong Yau-kar says continued development of the mainland economy is crucial, regardless of the trade war.

Wong said that tariffs are a tool the United States is using to secure intelligent property protection and to urge the mainland to open up foreign investment in some sectors.

He says Hong Kong could and should offer some help for the two economies to communicate better.

Zhang Liping, chairman of Greater China at Blackstone says he is convinced that the trade war can easily be solved, since the US and China can cooperate regardless of ideological differences.
