Hang Seng in negative column, Shanghai stocks tumble

Stocks in Hong Kong are once again in negative territory today. The benchmark Hang Seng Index lost 0.15 percent, or 39.69 points at 25,894.70 as of mid day.

The blue chip index fell after opening for trade on a positive note. At the open it added 0.16 percent, or 41.40 points, to 25,975.79.

In mainland China, the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index was down by 1.77 percent, or 28.46 points at 2,636.97.

The Shenzhen Stock Exchange Composite Index

shed 1.64 percent at 1,328.83, down by 22.17 points.

At the open, the Shanghai index lost 0.18 percent, or 4.71 points at 2,660.72, while the Shenzhen Composite Index, fell 0.37 percent, 4.96 points, to 1,346.04.
