Northeast monsoon brings cooler October

October was cooler than usual when the average temperatures was 25.3 degrees Celsius, or 0.2 degrees Celsius below normal, the Hong Kong Observatory said.

Rainfall was 104.3 millimeters, slightly above the normal figure of 100.9mm.

The cooler weather was attributed to the northeast monsoon.

The accumulated rainfall in the first 10 months was 2,077.6 mm – a deficit of 11 percent compared to the normal figure of 2,334 for the same period.

Meanwhile, three tropical cyclones occurred over the South China Sea and the western North Pacific.
