HK, Zhuhai, and Macau to sort out bridge buses

The Transport Department will work with the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge bridge bus operators to sort out the inadequacy of buses and also work in close liaison with the Zhuhai and Macau authorities, the Acting Chief Executive, Matthew Cheung Kin-chung, said today in response to anger among passengers who have complained of long waits.

"The problem stems from the fact that it happened on Sunday night with a surge in travelers. On a normal week day after the opening of the bridge, only around 35,000 people left Hong Kong. But on that particular Sunday evening, we are talking about 70,000 which is more than double the normal week day figure. So, that situation was certainly not satisfactory, undesirable,'' he said.

He said he hopes the operator can provide, deploy more buses.
