The Ron Carter Trio is performing on Saturday December 1, at the auditorium of Tsuen Wan Town Hall in a performance that is sure to be a treat for jazz lovers.

Ron Carter, 81, is one of the greatest double bassists in jazz history and his musical prowess and achievements have long been recognized. Once an anchor to Miles Davis’s classic mid-1960s quintet, Carter has two Grammy Awards and more than 2,000 albums to his credit, an accomplishment honored in the 2015 Guinness Book of World Records. He has recorded with greats including: Tommy Flanagan, Gil Evans, Lena Horne, Bill Evans, B.B. King, the Kronos Quartet, Dexter Gordon, Wes Montgomery, and Bobby Timmons, Jaki Byard, Eric Dolphy and Cannonball Adderley.

For a musician to be chosen as a member of the Ron Carter Trio serves as a considerable honour. Hence the two musicians picked out by Carter – pianist Donald Vega and guitarist Russell Malone – should not be overlooked.
