Five wounded in Taiwan from typhoonChina | 11 Jul 2018 1:26 pm
Five people were injured as typhoon Maria passed over northern Taiwan late yesterday and early today, according to the latest information on the storm issued by the Central Emergency Operation Center.
A total of 131,774 households around Taiwan lost power because of the storm, and 13,754 households were still without electricity as of 12:23 p.m. today, CNA reports.
A total of 3,438 people left their homes before the storm as a precautionary measure and 1,001 people were still in shelters, the center's figures showed.
Although the typhoon has moved away from Taiwan, the center said rough waves are still expected along Taiwan's northern coast into the afternoon.
