Aussie child sex predator and Filipina jailed for life for abusing infant, rapesWorld | 14 Jun 2018 3:05 pm
Australian pedophile Peter Gerard Scully, has been convicted of human trafficking and five counts of rape by a court in the southern Philippines and sentenced to life in jail.
His Filipina partner Carme Ann Alvarez was also jailed for life without parole.
He was found guilty of using children below 12 years old in his cybersex operations, local media Rappler reported.
Alvarez cried upon hearing the conviction while Scully was unmoved, Rappler reported.
AFP, citing prosecutors, said the Australian chained the victims like dogs.
He still faces another trial and dozens more charges, including allegations he made child pornography and murdered a young girl.
Police say Scully is accused of the most shocking cases of child murder, torture and abuse they have ever seen in the Philippines, the Sydney Morning Herald reports. Senior police officers and prosecutors wept when they viewed one video called 'Daisy's Destruction' that Scully allegedly sold on the internet showing an 18-month-old girl being sexually assaulted while being tied upside down by the legs.
Scully is also alleged to have sexually assaulted an 11-year-old girl before strangling her and burying her body in a grave under a house he was renting, SMH reports.
According to police he became a cyber child-porn kingpin in the Philippines, selling videos to internet clients around the world for A$10,000.
Videos seized by police allegedly showed Scully abusing children for his own self gratification.
Officers at the jail on the outskirts of Cagayan de Oro told Fairfax Media last year that Scully was a troublesome prisoner who often demanded special privileges, including made-to-order meals and a mobile phone.
An Australian Department of Foreign Affairs spokeswoman said the department was providing consular assistance to an Australian man detained in the Philippines, but due to privacy obligations, could not comment further, SMH reports.
Scully was convicted three years after he was arrested and accused of sexually abusing and filming girls including an 18-month-old baby.
"Peter Scully and Carme Ann Alvarez were found guilty of Qualified Trafficking in Persons and to suffer Life Imprisonment and force to pay the amount of 5 million pesos [US$93,700],” acting regional state prosecutor Merlyn Uy said, according to Rappler.
Uy added that, as of today, the state prosecutor has 50 more cases against Scully in Cagayan de Oro City, 8 in Malaybalay City, Bukidnon and two in Surigao City.
The justice department in 2016 recommended the filing of charges against the Australian pedophile and his accomplices. Their syndicate engaged in cybersex operations, using children below 12 years old – including a one-year-old.
Six of the cases involve two minors – Daisy and Queenie – who were lured by Scully and Alvarez. Daisy and Queenie were abused by Scully, who made them dig their own graves. The hostilities against the children spanned a week.
According to testimonies of 45 witnesses, the sexual abuses were filmed and uploaded on exclusive pornography websites, with payments collected from the viewers through money transfer.
The incidents took place from April 2011 to September 2014. Scully was arrested on February 20, 2015, following a global manhunt, Rappler reported.-Photo; Channel Nine
