Hang Seng closes down 253 points

Stocks in Hong Kong closed lower for a fourth straight day as equities in the mainland tanked today.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index declined 0.83 percent, or 252.84 points, at 30,062.75 while the Hang Seng China Enterprises Index, which tracks Hong Kong-listed Chinese companies, slid 0.90 percent, or 107.65 points, at 11,900.48.

Turnover on the main board amounted to HK$117.19 billion.

In China, the Shanghai Composite Index dived 1.41 percent, or 43.85 points, at 3,066.80 and the Shenzhen Composite Index slumped 2.20 percent, or 40.22 points, to close at 1,784.56.
