Beacon Hill protest banner removed

Firefighters have removed a large yellow banner from Beacon Hill that calls on people to vote on this Sunday’s Legco by-elections.

The two-meter by 10-meter banner, which reads "reject disqualification, let’s vote” in Chinese, was seen by members of the public last night, RTHK reports. However, authorities were unable to remove it because of the rainy conditions overnight and deferred the operation until today morning.

The League of Social Democrats hinted that it was behind the hanging of the banner, saying on its Facebook page that it wanted to do more to motivate people to head to polling stations on Sunday.-Photo: RTHK
