The Hong Kong, Macau and Zhuhai governments will carry out customs and immigration clearance separately on the cross-border bridge.

The announcement was made today by the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge Authority, which oversees the construction and operation of the main bridge, which said the checkpoints will operate around the clock and tolls will be collected in yuan.

The authority said vehicles will travel on the right in accordance with the mainland’s traffic arrangement until they reach Hong Kong or Macau, where they will then switch to left-hand traffic.

The bridge operator said initially, 140 shuttle buses will be running in 10-minute intervals along the bridge and the services will be enhanced gradually to 3 to 5 minutes.-RTHK
