A hospital consultant appeared at the Kwun Tong Magistrates' Courts today for falsely causing a patient to pay her HK$3,200 for purchasing a surgical instrument and misappropriating the money last year, the Independent Commission Against Corruption said.
Choi Chi-yee, 44, who was an associate consultant of the United Christian Hospital, faced a count of misconduct in public office and also an alternative charge of theft.
No plea was taken today and the case was adjourned until February 20 for plea.
Choi was granted cash bail of HK$3,000 and ordered not to contact prosecution witnesses directly or indirectly.
