Chan Yuen-han to chair Women's Commission

Former lawmaker Chan Yuen-han has been named Chairperson of the Women's Commission while four new members have also been appointed for a term of two years with effect from next Monday, the government announced today.

The Secretary for Labour and Welfare Law Chi-kwong said Chan, who was a veteran member of the Legislative Council and District Councils, has rich experience in the public sector.

"I trust that under Ms Chan's leadership, the WoC will continue its dedicated efforts in advancing the interests and development of women in Hong Kong.”

The four new members are Melaine Lee Kam-ha, Sherry Tsai Hiu-wa, Michelle Tang Ming-sumi and Viola Wong Ho Suk-ying.

The WoC aims to promote the well-being and interests of women in the city and advises the government on policies and initiatives on women's issues.
